History

Kleen-A-Matic is locally owned and operated with over 70 years of cleaning experience. Kleen-A-Matic began as Chickamauga Laundry in 1939. The laundry was set up to do contract laundry for the 6th Cavalry at Fort Oglethorpe. After the base was closed in 1948, the first satellite retail dry cleaning plant called Kleen-A-Matic opened in 1953 in East Ridge. In 1954, a store was built in the Brainerd area followed by Hwy. 58 in 1959. A fourth store was opened in East Brainerd in 1981, and in 1988 Kleen-A-Matic purchased Northgate Dry Cleaners in the Hixson area. In 1992 we broke ground for our Hamilton Place store, and in 1994 Kleen-A-Matic opened its seventh location in the Ooltewah area.

Kleen-A-Matic is Chattanooga’s largest dry cleaners.
